A tour of the Royal Palace (El Palacio Real)

In front of the Sabatini Gardens at the back of the palace.

This statue of Philipe V was the first of it's kind to ever be made successfully because before this no statue of a horse on it's hind legs had ever been successfully created. This statue was a result of the efforts of four important men: the sculptor, Velazqués (who's portrait of Philipe V this was based off of), the man who carved a marble bust of the king, so that the sculptor could have a 360° idea of the king's head, and Galileo who helped with the physics of making the whole statue stay up.

So, sadly, just like at the Prado, we weren't allowed to take pictures on the inside of the Palace. So this is all you get to see. The inside is quite magnificent. There were a number of amazing Chandeliers and some beautiful paintings, but to tell you the truth, I still liked Versailles much better because there was so much more light and bright colors. The color scheme in the palace was a bit darker, and I can't say I really liked that. Nevertheless, it's defintely a must see in Madrid.
