A night on the town

As many of you know, Madrid is know for it's vibrant night life. At first, I didn't think I'd take part in it that much, but then I changed my mind last night, and thought I might as well try. It was rather fun. A number of my Georgetown friends and I went out to a club near el Plaza Del Sol at 12:30 am. The club had an amazing interior because it used to be an old theater, so it was beautiful on the inside. We got in for free because it was University Student's night, which was nice because everything else in the club was super expensive. Even a bottle of water was 8 euros! Now it makes sense why Madrileños "hacer el botellón" or drink before going out to the club because it's way too expensive. It could have be the club itself too though because it is such a well known club and attracts a lot of tourists. Nonetheless, my friends and I had fun dancing together until 3:30 or 4:00 am when we then exited the club to go to Chocolatería San Ginés around the corner from the club for Chocolate con Churros.

After waiting a bit my friends and I got a table and ordered. I must admit that one of the main reasons I decided to go out that night was because of the reward fo Chocolate con Churros after the club; I guess it's tradition to go out to such a place after a long night at the bar or club. The Chocolatería San Ginés is one of the best known spots to go for Chocolate con Churros, and it definitely delivered. A very fun way to end the night. My friends and I camped out there at our table until 5:50 am when we then walked back to the Metro station to catch the train home. The metros don't start running until 6 am, so that's another reason why we stayed out so late. Either way, it was fun, Tanya, Gigi and I ended up talking and really connecting by the end of the night, so that definitely made the whole night worth it as well. I loved seeing how many people were still out at 6 am waiting to catch the metro home. Not only did I feel some kind of compatriotism with them in a way for staying up all night, but I also felt rather safe because it was a bunch of people like me heading home after a fun night out. I made it home around 6:30 am where I then slept until 2 pm. I'm still rather tired, and should probably go to sleep soon, but I just wanted to post about the fun night I had last night.
